"Seijin no hi" (Day of Adults, literally) is the Japanese coming-of-age day, held on the second Monday in January. To celebrate its employees who reaches the age of 20, Kyokuyo Shipyard presents them a gift on that day every year.

Hello again! I'm Miho Miyaji, secretary of Team Kyokuyo, the softball team we introduced to you in our news073. Today, I am very happy to report you that our team is now proven actually strong, as it won a City Softball Tournament of October 28, 2007, organized by the Shimonoseki Softball Association.
This year too, Kyokuyo hosted a golf tournament now widely known as "Kyokuyo Open" on October 10, its foundation day. As many as 145 guest and host players (in 38 groups!) gathered at Shimonoseki to celebrate the company's 65th anniversary. The sky was clear.
How do you do? I am Nagatomi, from General Affairs Division. In the shareholders' meeting of June this year, I was approved as director of the company.

On January 23, 2007, we received 38 guests from PuKyong National University (PKNU) of Korea. They are professors and students at PNKU's College of Environmental and Marine Sciences and Technology, visiting Kyokuyo and other places in Japan as part of Pusan-Shimonoseki sister-city exchange activities.

Kyokuyo's last big event in 2006 was joint ceremony for naming and delivery of S467 and naming of S468 held on December 5. The 13,400tdw multi-purpose cargo boats are sister No.3 and No.4 ordered by Carisbrooke Shipping Holdings Limited.
Although "Kyokuyo Open" is not a national premier golf tournament for professional golfers, it is unique match virtually "open" to everybody who has something to do with Kyokuyo, from customers, contractors, suppliers, bankers, to ... pub owners, let alone employees and employers of Kyokuyo Shipyard.
Every year, about 30 typhoons are born in the Northwest Pacific. Their route varies : some head to China, others proceed to Korean Peninsula, and several hit Japan also. The activity peaks in late summer when water temperatures are warmest.
