Kyokuyo Holds First Business Update Meeting in Four Years Following Leadership Transition

On July 28, 2026, Kyokuyo Shipyard held its first Business Update Meeting in approximately four years at the Shimonoseki Grand Hotel.

The event brought together a wide range of companies and partners who support our business, including customers, materials manufacturers, suppliers, and financial institutions. Approximately 230 people representing 137 companies attended in person, while another 60 participants from 50 companies joined online, bringing total attendance to more than 290 people from 180 companies.

At the meeting, Katsuhiko Ochi, who was appointed Chairman & CEO at the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders and subsequent Board of Directors meeting at the end of June 2026, gave a broad overview of Kyokuyo's business and future direction. Beginning with the company's history, he reviewed our business performance over the past three years, current orderbook and outlook, capital investment, the risks facing the shipbuilding industry, and Kyokuyo's management strategy for the years ahead. He also provided an update on Straits Holdings, Kyokuyo's holding company.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to introduce our new Mission, Vision and Values (MVV), which were established and launched in May 2026. Developed with input from employees, suppliers and other stakeholders through a company-wide survey, the MVV defines the direction we aim to take and the role we seek to play in society. A new concept video was also presented to bring these ideas to life.

Following the business update, Hiromichi Aiba, who was appointed President & COO in June, formally introduced Kyokuyo's new executive structure, which had previously been announced in a press release. He also shared his thoughts and commitment on assuming the presidency and introduced the company's newly appointed Corporate Officers.

With our new leadership structure and MVV in place, Kyokuyo will continue to strengthen the relationships of trust we have built with our business partners and local communities, while further advancing our technical capabilities and working toward the sustainable development of our shipbuilding business.

We would like to thank everyone who joined us, both in Shimonoseki and online. We particularly appreciate the many guests who made the trip despite their busy schedules and the intense summer heat. We look forward to continuing to work together with all of you in the years ahead.
