NEWS 341 : A CLEAR SKY FOR ERASMUS FUTURE
Fourth 'Japanmax' Feeder Delivered to Erasmus Group in 2025
On November 28, 2025, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation successfully completed and delivered the 1,096 TEU container vessel ERASMUS FUTURE to Erasmus Shipinvest Group.
The weather had been unusually wet for this time of year, with rain falling even the day before — but to our great relief, the skies cleared just in time for delivery day. Thanks to the return of blue skies, we were able to hold the delivery ceremony without disruption.
The ERASMUS FUTURE is the latest model in Kyokuyo’s "JAPANMAX" series — our flagship feeder container ship line that we have continuously refined for over 20 years. This newest-generation model meets the EEDI Phase 3(*) standards for fuel efficiency and emissions.
The ship was named by Mr. Hitoshi Nishida, Executive Officer of Hiroshima Bank, which financed the vessel. Ms. Heidi Li of Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd., the charterer, performed the ceremonial cutting of the mooring rope, officially bringing the ERASMUS FUTURE to life. The ship will be owned and operated by Lodestar Shipping and Navigation S.A.

Before the luncheon, all attendees gathered to watch the vessel as she passed through the Kanmon Strait. The sight of ERASMUS FUTURE advancing powerfully through the narrow, fast-flowing channel drew spontaneous applause and cheers, creating a moment of shared excitement and anticipation for the voyage ahead.
At the luncheon, it is customary for attending companies to exchange commemorative gifts — and this time, the number of gifts exchanged marked an all-time high for an event hosted by our company. The luncheon was all the more festive and memorable thanks to this generous spirit.
This marks the fourth vessel delivered to Erasmus Shipinvest Group in 2025, following the ERASMUS EFFORT in July. With each vessel, our relationship grows stronger — but we take nothing for granted. We remain committed to delivering even better ships and earning continued trust through quality craftsmanship.

(*) The Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 is a fuel performance standard mandated by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for newly built vessels from 2025 onwards. Phase 3 requires roughly a 30% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to conventional vessels, achieved through advanced hull design and propulsion systems.
