NEWS 335 : SOUMEI, OUR HIGH-EFFICIENCY RORO VESSEL, DELIVERED
On May 30, 2025, we delivered Hull No. S.580, SOUMEI, to Daisen Logistics Co., Ltd. The vessel entered service on June 28, operated by Nippon Steel Logistics Co., Ltd. on the Kitakyushu–Sakai route.

SOUMEI brings together innovative technology and existing port infrastructure to boost both cargo capacity and handling efficiency by around 30%. With better energy performance and reduced environmental impact, she's designed to be a smarter, greener ship. We've also equipped her with systems that improve safety and support more comfortable working conditions for the crew - features we believe matter just as much.
The project has been recognized under a joint initiative by Japan’s Agency for Natural Resources and Energy and the Maritime Bureau of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, as part of their demonstration program to promote energy-efficient RORO vessels with advanced cargo systems.
This has been a long but rewarding journey. We first received a project inquiry from Nippon Steel Logistics back in July 2019, and after nearly six years of collaboration, SOUMEI has become a truly memorable part of our shipbuilding story. We'll be sharing more technical details about the vessel here on our website soon.

With growing national focus on maritime transport and shipbuilding as part of Japan’s economic security strategy, we’re excited to keep pushing forward—not only with ocean-going vessels, but also with innovative coastal ships like SOUMEI. We believe there’s real value in building smarter at every scale.
