On November 20, 2012, we had the naming and delivery ceremonies for S506 container carrier. She and her elder sister S505 are the first ships we have built for SITC since 3.5 years and the 12th and 13th ships since 2000. We would like to heartily thank our longstanding client for their continuous support!
Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation and its subsidiary Shosen Co., Ltd., are members of a local cooperative business association called "Shimonoseki Zosen Kanren Jigyo Kyodo Kumiai" (Shimonoseki Shipbuilding-related Business Association). One of its main activities since 2004 is the organization of an international trainee program.
On June 20, a 6,600tdw RORO vessel, code-named S503, was delivered to the owner, SHIPLUX X S.A.. She is the youngest and the last of 4 sister ships, ordered by CLdN.
In the last news, we said (Wilhelmine) "was the first in the series that was given name in Japan, as her elder sisters left our place without being named." Are they trading without own name? If not, how and where were they named? Okay, in this issue, we are going to disclose the secret.
At Kyokuyo, the fiscal year 2012 has started with the naming ceremony for S-502, a 6,600tdw RORO cargo carrier ordered by SHIPLUX IX S.A.. She is the 3rd of 4 sisters.
Our first big event this year was the delivery of S501, a 6,600tdw type RORO ship ordered by Europe-based SHIPLUX VIII s.a., which was held on January 25. She is the second of the 4-ship series.
As you may remember, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation celebrates its employees who have just reached the age of 20, on the occasion of "Seijin-no-Hi", Japanese coming-of-age day. Since the national holiday falls on January 9, we held a small gift-presenting ceremony on January 5 this year.
On November 17 took place our last big event for 2011. It was the delivery of S-500, a 6,600tdw type RORO cargo ship ordered by Europe-based Shiplux VII S.A..
Eight years passed since we established with other shipbuilding-related companies a cooperative which, besides operating group purchasing, runs an international training program.
On July 6 2011 was launched S500, the first vessel in 4 sisters of 6,600tdw RORO carrier ordered by a European owner. The ship marks Kyokuyo's return to the sector after its m.v. Yuzui Maru left the dock in 1995.
Kyokuyo Shipyard held its annual company entrance ceremony on April 1, the first day in the fiscal year. For 2011 we have 7 new employees, comprised of 2 college graduates in administration and 5 high school graduates in production.
On March 29, 2011, 2,000unit type pure car carrier S495 was named and delivered. She is the second and the last of 2-ship series of Kyokuyo's self-developed eco-friendly ship with a semi-spherically shaped bow (SSS-bow) that reduces the wind resistance. Featured in TV and newspapers, the sisters are perhaps the most famous of the vessels we have ever built.
On March 8, 2011, container carrier S-498 was launched as scheduled. S-498 can carry as much as 1,022 units of 20 feet standard containers - the biggest number ever for a ship built by Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation. She will be delivered in the month of June, after outfitting process.
Our third news for 2011 is about Japan's "coming-of-age day", a national holiday we have on the second Monday in January every year. And every year, Kyokuyo celebrates its young employees who reach the age of 20 by offering small gift.
At the end of 2010, on December 22, we had a very busy and exciting day. It was the day of naming and delivery of S-493, Kyokuyo's "Semi-Spherical Shaped bow"ed eco-ship.
In every October, we celebrate the employees who reach their 10th, 20th (and so on) anniversary on the job. This year we have 8 eligibles, including our 3 co-workers who have been working for Kyokuyo for 20 years, and 5 for 10 years. All of them belong to Production Department.
On September 29, 2010 was born another 7,200m3 LPG Carrier. The weather was still hot but breezy and reasonably comfortable, compared to this summer's violent heat from which we still suffered one month ago, when we delivered her sister "SIVA CORAL".
September 11, 2010 is the day when everyone at Kyokuyo delightfully witnessed launching of the most original and sexiest newbuilding ship in its 68 years of history: S-493, "eco-friendly" car carrier with a futuristic "SSS bow", or Semi-Spherical Shaped bow, which we featured in News112.
