3 Months after her naming, as reported in NEWS179, the gas carrier m.t. "ECO CHIOS" was completed on schedule.
Our last big event of the fiscal year 2013 was the naming and delivery ceremonies for S514, ordered by Belair Entertainment Inc., and the naming ceremony for the sister ship S515, ordered by Intergalactic Investments Inc.. Both of the vessels were 7,200m3 type liquefied gas carriers.
On March 1, 2014, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation jointly organized a inter-company shipbuilding skills competition with Onomichi Dockyard, Co., Ltd. The idea of this competition, which was to motivate young technicians to improve their skills through exciting events, was born from conversations between the presidents of the 2 companies quite a while ago. Since then, the both companies have been working together toward the realization of this unprecedented competition.
As reported by newspapers, Kyokuyo Shipyard Corporation received, on December 27, 2013, an order for a 540TEU container carrier from Kobe-based Imoto Lines, Ltd.

On December 4, 2013, ceremonies were held for 2 sisters of 7,200m3 type liquefied gas carriers : S514, ordered by Bel Air Entertainment Inc. and S515, ordered by Intergalactic Investments inc.. The both ships are based on our 7,200m3 type standard design, like S504 delivered in September 2011, with a bunch of improvements to satisfy the latest regulations and owner's ideas, though.
On August 23, 2013, the latest model of our famous ultra-low-temperature-refrigerated-cargo-carrier (ULTR) was named and delivered to the owner.
This news follows up on the previous one that introduced you Kyokuyo's 6 new comers for 2013.
Kyokuyo's 2013 rookies include 2 MEng holders who have studied ocean engineering. We hope they will become leading players in our engineering teams and propel our technical abilities further.
Kyokuyo's last newbuilding ship in the fiscal year 2012 (which ends on March 31) was a cement carrier of 4,300tdw, code-named S-510. The naming and delivery ceremonies took place on March 29, after 'consecration' ceremony on the previous day.
