The naming and delivery ceremony for S575, a 1,096 TEU container carrier, took place on September 19. This vessel is the last in a series of eight vessels that have been built over the past two years. She is our final relay race runner who reaches the finish line.

After a three-year hiatus due to the unfortunate circumstances of the pandemic, the much-anticipated Shimonoseki Cutter Race was finally resumed last year on a reduced scale. This year, the event returned to its original form and welcomed many teams from all over the country, including teams from Shimonoseki and beyond!

NEWS 322 : SEVEN SAMURAI RETURNED

From Vocational Training at Oita

On June 28, we celebrated the graduation ceremony of the annual training program for new recruits at the Oita Regional Shipbuilding Craftsmanship Center (ORSC) in Saiki City, Oita Prefecture. Seven of our new recruits returned safely with a slightly more mature look (one with blond hair) after completing the three-month training program that began on April 4. Reflecting their efforts and struggles, their work uniforms seem to be dirty again this year.

Naming & Delivery of 1,096TEU Container Ship "A ROKKO"
According to the traditional Japanese calendar, which originated in China, Risshun, or the beginning of spring, was celebrated on February 4 this year.

On February 20, when it was still chilly although it was supposed to be spring, the naming and delivery ceremony for S574, the fifth ship in the series of 1,096 TEU container carriers, was held. For Kyokuyo, this was the first ship to be delivered in 2024.

Kyokuyo's Child Care Support Expands

While Japan's economy has finally emerged from a long period of deflation, prices are now rising and the economic environment is becoming more difficult for households.

In order to provide direct support to families raising children who will lead Japan's next generation, Kyokuyo has decided to generously expand its Childcare Gift Program effective April 1.

The Kyokuyo Open Golf Tournament, which was suspended after 2019 due to the COVID disaster, was finally held for the first time in four years on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Shimonoseki Golden Golf Club. This year's tournament was the 60th edition.

On July 18, the third in a series of 1,096 TEU Japanmax container ships, code-named "S569", was named and delivered in a ceremony blessed with fine weather in the last days of the rainy season. The ceremony was again attended by guests from NEW GENERAL AVIATION INTERNATIONAL PTE.LTD., the owner of the vessel, and ITOCHU Corporation.
